It is the fifth day of Evo Morales’ march. The coca leader went to the Secretary General of the United Nations (UN), António Guterres, to request their intervention and denounce that President Luis Arce is trying to “disrupt” the mobilization that left last Tuesday from the town of Caracollo and that tomorrow intends to enter the city of El Alto. Morales also said that if Luis Arce wants to engage in dialogue, he should attend the march. Sectors close to the president are preparing to contain the former president’s march in district 8 of the city of El Alto, specifically in the Ventilla sector.

Morales posted a message on his social networks today announcing that the mobilization he leads went to the UN to request the intervention of the organization and to denounce the Arce Government for trying to “disrupt” the mobilization. The coca leader denounces “serious situations” that the country faces, which, in his opinion, suffers “a systematic violation of commitments international organizations of the Bolivian State.”

The letter lists as its subject the “request for attention to the current situation in Bolivia” and begins by explaining that those who signed the note are “Peasant Authorities and Leaders of the Organizations Social Affairs of Bolivia, in order to expose a series of serious situations that we are facing in our country.”

“We are concerned about the threats against the physical integrity and freedom of former President Evo Morales, who has been the subject of statements that we consider extremely alarming by senior government officials,” the letter reads in part.

Then, he gives textual quotes from some authorities and leaders, who asked for the arrest of the coca leader. Statements from the deputy are attached. Deysi Choque, the leader Grover García and the ministers Edgar Montaño, Iván Lima and Eduardo Del Castillo. “In light of the facts, we request your intervention to ensure that the fundamental rights of all Bolivian citizens are respected, in accordance with national and international law,” the letter says.

The letter also adds the situation of an institutional crisis characterized by the decrease of functions supervisors of the Plurinational Legislative Assembly, the submission of the Judicial Branch, the Constitutional Court and the Supreme Electoral Tribunal to executive decisions, as well as worrying signs of corruption.

“We also wish to express our concern about recent attempts to ban and theft of legal status of the Political Instrument for the Sovereignty of Peoples and threats of disqualification of former President Evo Morales. Given this situation, Bolivian social movements have presented a list of demands seeking a space for response that will allow us to address the aforementioned challenges,” the letter states.

Morales’ mobilization is in its fifth day of march and is expected to enter the city of El Alto tomorrow. The former president referred to the call for dialogue made by Luis Arce. “Lucho (Arce) may be a good actor, (he did) excellent theater, we are concerned about that. How can he sit back and wait knowing that Evo is in the march? This is not a march for Evo, it is a march for the people. We agreed here, if they make so much propaganda about the march and dialogue, We have decided that the president and vice president should come here for a dialogue on the march, on the road, We will believe there if he wants dialogue,” said Morales.

While, andThe Arcist Unity Pact called its members for this Sunday, September 22, at the Ventilla intersection in District 8 from the city of El Alto at 7:00 a.m. to counter the Evista march that is scheduled to arrive in the city of El Alto on Monday.

“We call on all our members to defend democracy and our national government. This is not the time to campaign. Those who are marching, hurting the brothers of Vila Vila, the self-convened ones. Today we have said enough of humiliation,” said intercultural leader Esteban Alavi.
