The Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) announced at a press conference the details of the Panama Flamenco Festival, which will celebrate its tenth edition from October 7 to 10 in various locations in Panama City.
Anita Loynaz, producer of the event, highlighted that “this festival was born in 2014 with the support of INAC, now the Ministry of Culture, to promote and preserve flamenco art in Panama. Since then, it has impacted more than 23,000 people, taught classes to more than 4,000 children and certified more than 2,000 dancers in North, Central and South America.”
The festival will offer a variety of activities aimed at students and flamenco fans. Among them, there will be free master classes on September 25 at the City of Arts and at the San Francisco Communal Council, coinciding with the reopening of the Casa de la Cultura de San Sebastián.
Arianne Benedetti, Deputy Minister of Culture, said that “this event will serve to strengthen ties of friendship and solidarity through art. It is an honour for the Ministry of Culture to participate in this initiative that promotes artistic expressions and intangible cultural heritage through dance, music and songs from Spain.”
Specialized courses for amateurs will also be offered on October 7 and 8 at the Anita Loynaz Center, aimed at those seeking to deepen their knowledge and experience in this discipline.
The festival will culminate with a main show entitled “FIESTA FLAMENCA” on Thursday, October 10 at the Anayansi Theater.
This year, the event will feature the stellar participation of “El Farru”, one of the most outstanding dancers of Spanish flamenco, who will present his latest production, “Fiesta Flamenca”, together with a cast of more than 10 artists, including guitarists, singers and percussionists. The renowned dancer Anita Loynaz will also join this celebration.
Also present at the conference were Guzmán Palacios, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain in Panama; Magali Ulloa, Senior Corporate Manager of Iberia; and Jessica Schaw, Vice President of Marketing at Global Bank.
This festival is for the benefit of Aid for Aids, and tickets will be on sale at Panatickets. For more details about the tenth edition of the Panama Flamenco Festival, you can follow the social media: @miculturapma, @anitaloynazcenter and @panamaflamencofestival.
