The government Dominican applies a subsidy focused on the drivers the transport public, as reported on Monday by the Minister of the Presidency, Lisandro Macarrulla.
The official assured that thanks to this subsidy, ticket prices have not risen for the population, and specified that this measure is independent of the subsidy general to fuel prices that exceed RD$600 million per week.
“That was implemented and it’s walking, that’s why ticket prices haven’t increased,” said Macarrulla.
The minister had reported on January 28 that he was negotiating with the sector transport a subsidy so that they would not assume the increase in the price of hydrocarbons or pass it on to the population. However the government did not report the date on which the measure began to be applied.
Macarrulla did not explain the mechanism in which the subsidy, nor the amount. “That depends on the number of vehicles that are in use, but it is a direct mechanism for the carrier; obviously it is a much smaller amount than the one that is generally subsidized at the price of the fuel“, Held.
