President Alberto Fernández asked Deputy Sergio Massa, head of the Lower House, on Monday, an “agile and participatory” debate for the agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which will be discussed next month in Congress, official sources reported.
Fernández received Massa in his office at the Casa Rosada in the afternoon for a meeting that lasted between 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., and in which agreed that the agreement with the IMF enter the Chamber of Deputies “as soon as possible”, sources added.
The head of state had assured this Monday in an act in the Buenos Aires town of Santa Clara del Mar, in the Mar Chiquita district, where he inaugurated a sports stadium, that “there will be no agreement with the IMF to stop the growth” of Argentinaand asked retirees to “be very calm” because the increase in their assets will not be stopped from that agreement.
Fernández said that one of the commitments of his Government is “order a deranged economy that has left” the government of former president Mauricio Macri“with a very high inflation and with a debt like Argentina never had, taken with incredible irresponsibility”.
In this line, the head of the block of deputies of the Front of All (FdT), Germán Martínez, considered this Monday that, once the agreement with the IMF enters Congress, An “intense but shortened debate” will take place, with the intention of having “a resolution in the shortest possible time.”
Martínez insisted that he will work to “clear up doubts” in the lower house and so that the refinancing of the debt for 44,000 million dollars contracted by the previous government can have “the greatest number of positive votes possible”.
