Senators Rick Scott and Marco Rubio argued that the Trump administration accused Maduro, and other officials of the revolution, of participating in a narcoterrorism conspiracy, which carries a minimum sentence of 20 years and a maximum sentence of life in prison.
On Thursday, September 19, U.S. Republican Senators Rick Scott and Marco Rubio introduced a bill requesting that the reward for information leading to the capture of President Nicolás Maduro be increased.
The document states that “this is an initiative to increase the maximum reward amount for information that led to the arrest and conviction of Nicolás Maduro Moros to $100,000,000, which will be paid by the Federal Government from all assets seized by Nicolás Maduro Moros, officials of the Maduro regime and his conspirators.”
Under the bill, the U.S. Secretary of State may pay one or more persons who provide information described in section 36(b) of the Act that leads to Maduro’s arrest and conviction.

In March 2020, U.S. Attorney Geoffrey S. Berman of the Southern District of New York said: “We are announcing eight criminal charges against Nicolás Maduro for leading, along with his top lieutenants, a narcoterrorism alliance with the FARC during the past.”
