UASD would not be ready to return to face-to-face immediately. After the removal of the COVID safety measures in the country, from the president, Louis Abinader, the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Franklin García Fermín, asked the country’s universities to return to the face-to-face modality to teach their classes. However, the authorities of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), they consider that for the academy it will be difficult to accommodate that request.
The administrative vice-rector, Pablo Váldez Martínez, assured this Monday that for this high house of studies “it will be difficult” because both the administrative staff, as well as the teacher and the student body, are scheduled to take classes virtually and blended.

On his side, Minister Fermín assured that the institution “will provide certain facilities” so that they can comply with the MESCYT provision, while insisting that most universities have begun with the gradual dismantling of the virtuality measure and began to teach face-to-face and semi-face-to-face classes.
However, the official explained that the virtual modality is a reality that has worked and continues to be used worldwide, so the Dominican Republic will not turn its back on this teaching method and the Government will prepare teachers in this educational method for classes to be taught in this way.
