Venezuela was elected as a member of the Latin American and Caribbean regional group on the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), reported the Foreign Minister of the Republic, Yván Gil.
In a message posted on his Instagram account, the head of the Foreign Affairs portfolio highlighted that our country was chosen for this responsibility during the 68th General Conference of the IAEA, held in Vienna.
“Bolivarian Diplomacy for Peace proudly assumes this role, with the aim of continuing to promote the use of nuclear technologies and energy in favor of peace and human development,” Gil emphasized.
For her part, the Venezuelan ambassador in Vienna, Claudia Salerno, pointed out that our country will hold that responsibility during the period 2024-2026.
In an interview with a WEB portal, the diplomat highlighted that Venezuela’s candidacy to become a full member of the IAEA was presented in 2022 and “since then, Venezuelan diplomacy has made efforts to consolidate the victory that today fills us with pride, because it is a recognition of the diplomatic work carried out” by Venezuela in the International Atomic Energy Agency.
