Clearly shaken and with his voice breaking due to the drama he is experiencing, farmer Francisco Chaupez Malca said that after selling his cocoa crop, he was preparing to return to his farm. At 4:00 p.m. today he took a minibus that would take him to Mazamari, carrying with him the backpack containing the money he managed to collect after several days of selling.

“I was sick and I bought medicines worth S/ 400, documents, tools and S/ 54 thousand at the clinic. There were about five people in the van, I was the last one to get off, I paid him S/ 3, he said “you paid me too much” and he gave me back S/ 1. I went to Pangoa and there I realized that I no longer had my backpack,” he says.
Chaupez Malca told Radio La Ruta Satipo that he took a taxi to get to the minibus terminal, met with the manager of the transport company but did not find the owner of the minibus.
Desperate, the farmer who has his farm in Boca Saniveni in the Ene Valley, called the van driver to return the backpack with the medicines, tools and, above all, the money.
The man has seven children, two of whom study in Lima and one at Senati in Satipo. He says he has debts to pay and must invest in the next crop. In addition, he has a kidney problem. He says he is willing to give a reward of S/5,000. “I don’t steal, I work hard to be able to save my money. Please, be aware, maybe you suffer like I do to have money, I suffer a lot to get that little bit of money,” he asked.
