The Foreign Minister of the Republic, Yván Gil, criticized the votes cast by Argentina, Israel and the United States (US) against a United Nations resolution condemning the genocide committed by the Zionist State in the Gaza Strip.
This was expressed by the head of Venezuelan diplomacy on his social networks, where he detailed that “the UN General Assembly approved a resolution demanding that Israel end its illegal presence in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, with 124 votes in favor, 14 against and 43 abstentions.”
“This resolution sets a 12-month deadline for compliance (by Israel), based on the opinion of the International Court of Justice on the consequences of the Israeli occupation, which is currently carrying out a genocide in Gaza that will reach one year in October,” he added.
In this regard, he argued that “it is not surprising that the governments of the United States, Israel and Argentina have voted against this measure. Today, these countries are the leaders of the international fascist cartel that represents a serious threat to humanity.”
The UN resolution, passed earlier on Wednesday, required a two-thirds majority to support it and, while not binding like all those of the Assembly, is somewhat historic in that it was first presented by the State of Palestine, which, despite not having full membership status, has gained some powers in recent months.
