The Center for Diagnosis, Advanced Medicine and Telemedicine (Cedimat) commemorated its 25th anniversary this Wednesday anniversary premiering name at its Cardiovascular Center, showcasing achievements and high quality in health services, with a Eucharist officiated by Monsignor Jesús Castro Marte, Bishop of the Diocese of Nuestra Señora de La Altagracia.
The President of the Republic, Luis Abinader Corona; his wife Raquel Arbaje; the Mayor of Santo Domingo, Carolina Mejía; the Minister of Health, Víctor Atallah; and His Most Reverend Eminence were present at the event. cardinal Nicholas of Jesus Lopez Rodriguez.
As part of the activities, the Tree was presented Tribute to honor the memory of deceased members of the board of trustees, as well as the unveiling of the plaque with the new name of the Cardiovascular Center in honor of cardinal Lopez Rodriguezpresident of the board of trustees of this health centre since its foundation in 1999.
During the presentation ceremony, His Most Reverend Eminence was recognized “for his brilliant career as a dignitary of the Catholic Church and as an exemplary citizen,” as well as for being the protagonist of that seed planted 25 years ago that today has germinated into a hospital that has treated 3.9 million patients and assisted more than 4,500 children in cardiac interventions.
The first Vice President of the PatronageJosé Luis (Pepín) Corripio Estrada, when speaking, assured that none of the dreams of Dr. Juan Manuel Taveras Rodríguez, founder of Cedimatwould have been possible without the presence and predominant management of the cardinal Lopez Rodriguez.
Corripio Estrada praised the way in which Cedimat has become “a leader in modernization in it Caribbean and Latin America, exceeding the growth parameters of a public health institution.”
He also highlighted the good management that Mrs. Milagros Ureña has had as general director of Cedimatstating that “without administrative success, there is no medical success.” He also congratulated Dr. Jorge Marte, medical director of the center, and the entire team of doctors, made up of 200 resident physicians, who work “with a spirit of collaboration and improvement in the service.”

Cedimat It is consolidated as the only health center in the country that offers a team of radiologists subspecialized for each organ of the body, providing precise and personalized care.
In addition, it stands out as the only center cardiovascular in the Dominican Republic built under the rigorous international standards and the rules of the Joint Commission International, which guarantees a world-class service. It also has the only unit cardiovascular pediatric and the only electrophysiology unit pediatric of the country, offering specialized care for the little ones.
In Cedimat There is the only center Gamma Knife associated, which allows for scalpel-free brain surgeries, and has the only program specialized in brain embolizations.
It is the only center in the country with technology ECMO (Oxygenation by Extracorporeal Membrane), in addition to specialized comprehensive clinics, such as the chest pain clinic, women’s clinic, thyroid clinic, colorectal clinic, epilepsy surgery clinic, hemato-oncological diagnosis and therapy, vein clinic, esophageal rehabilitation clinic, oncological cardiology service and a comprehensive gastroenterology center.
