AREQUIPA, Peru – The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced that citizens from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela who enter U.S. territory under humanitarian parole and receive a two-year temporary entry authorization must regularize their immigration status during that time through another available legal program, including asylum.

The most recent report from the Customs and Border Control Office (CBP) indicates that as of August, more than 110,000 Cubans, 210,000 Haitians, almost 93,000 Nicaraguans and almost 117,000 Venezuelans have entered the United States under humanitarian parole.
