New Internal Audit of Cesfront raises to 269 the number installed by the Comptroller’s Office

Santo Domingo.- The Comptroller General of the Republic installed its Internal Audit Unit (UAI) number 269 in the Specialized Corps for Land Border Security (Cesfront), which continues the instructions of the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, to establish greater transparency controls in the use of the public resourcesincluding in state security agencies.

The Comptroller General of the Republic, Félix Antonio Santana García, and the General Director of Cesfront, Brigadier General José Heldilberto Rodríguez Coste, ERD, signed the opening minutes and the ribbon cutting of the new UAI, in the company of Major General Miguel Ángel Rubio Báez, ERD, Vice Minister of Defense for Military Affairs and the Director of the Directorate of Government Internal Audit Units, Rolando Saldívar Matos, among other personalities.

“Every time the Comptroller General visits a Central Government institution, it does so with the aim of improving the operation of each of these government institutions. In this case, we do so at Cesfront with the aim of supporting its operations in the financial and administrative order, never to hinder the daily operations inherent to the institutions, with the aim of ensuring transparency and better accountability,” emphasized Santana García.

For his part, the director of Cesfront indicated that with this action “a milestone is reached in the history of this specialized body, by signing an agreement and opening the office of the Internal Control Unit of the Comptroller General of the Republic; its role is of crucial importance as advisor, evaluator and supervisor of administrative procedures, guaranteeing transparency and the proper use of the resources assigned to this institution.

The Comptroller General stressed that the Comptroller General’s Office feels represented in each Internal Audit Unit, seeking the best operation, transparency and accountability of operations and management of State resources, always acting in compliance with Law 10-07 and its implementing regulations 491-07.

In his keynote address, Santana García also said that every public official who manages resources from the State’s general budget must be controlled and must put into practice the five pillars of internal control: control environment, risk assessment and management, control activities, information and communication, monitoring and evaluation, which make up the Basic Standards of Internal Control (Nobaci).”

The new UAI was put into operation immediately under the responsibility of its manager Ileana Alvarado, who will be accompanied by auditor Jhonnerys Polanco, under the supervision of Sobeida de la Rosa.

The opening minutes established that Cesfront will provide the Internal Audit Unit (UAI) with the information that will allow it to achieve its audit objectives, and with the physical space to carry out its work, as well as the necessary office materials and supplies.

To continue promoting efficient and transparent management of public resources, the authorities of the Specialized Corps for Land Border Security also committed to comply in a timely manner with the recommendations made by the Internal Audit Unit.

The Internal Audit Unit will also carry out objective evaluations of the processes and will act as an advisor to the institution on internal control, acting as an official representative of the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic.
