The state government signed this Wednesday afternoon (18) the decree that changes the name of the Jabaquara station, on Metro Line 1-Blue, to honor the Brazilian Paralympic Committee (CPB) and the athletes who represented Brazil at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. From now on, the station will be called Jabaquara-Comitê Paralímpico Brasileiro.
The station, located on Avenida Jabaquara, was the first one built in the capital of São Paulo, with construction work beginning on December 14, 1968. On September 6, 1972, a two-car train, called Unidade-Protótipo, made the first subway trip between Pátio Jabaquara and Estação Jabaquara.
In addition to athletes from the Paralympic delegation, the event at Palácio dos Bandeirantes will be attended by the Secretaries of State for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, Marcos da Costa, and Metropolitan Transport, Marco Antonio Assalve, and the president of the CPB, Mizael Conrado.
