The Italian was a renowned scholar of Peruvian flora, fauna and geology and a driving force behind research and development of natural sciences in Peru, as well as scientific dissemination in his time.
This coin has a denomination of S/1, but a cost of S/175. It can be purchased on the sales portal of the issuing entity: https://tiendavirtual.bcrp.gob.pe/tiendabcrp/Only 5,000 units will be issued.
CHARACTERISTICS
On the reverse of the coin, the bust of Antonio Raimondi is shown surrounded by the phrase “I SEEMED I DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH EYES TO SEE EVERYTHING”, expressed when seeing “the swarm of various plants” in the central jungle in San Ramón (Chanchamayo). Next to the bust is his signature and at the bottom the period commemorated “1824-2024”.
The obverse features the Coat of Arms, the text “BANCO CENTRAL DE RESERVA DEL PERÚ”, the year of issue, and the denomination “UN SOL”.
