During an event, the Ministry of Culture reopened the remodeled Vetilio Alfau Durán conference room and Rodríguez Demorizi Library of the National Museum of History and Geography (MNHG).
During her speech, Minister of Culture Milagros Germán said: “We are reopening these spaces with a clear mission to transform the traditional museum into a beacon of research, dissemination and participation. We are breaking with the idea that a museum only requires collections.”
Carlos Andújar, Director General of Museums, said that these spaces are part of the challenge of giving priority to its founding collections, recovering the lost prestige in the national community, and making its museography something fun and rigorous at the same time, always with the mission of supporting the national educational system.
In this regard, José G. Guerrero, director of the MNHG, said that the reopening of the conference hall, the library, and also the Research Department, will allow the institution to meet its objectives of disseminating and enhancing the country’s historical and geographical heritage.
