María Inés Obaldía at a Frente Amplio event: “We are going to win the government”

The intervention, which was broadcast by journalist Leo Sarro through his account on the social network X, shows the expectations of the sector in view of the elections.

“We are going to win the government, yes, we are going to win the government, we are convinced that we have a parliamentary majority, but we need to win the government as our neighbours demand, in the first round,” said Obladía.

The speaker stressed the importance of winning in the first round, referring to the country’s current challenges, such as the dismantling of the Ministry of Social Development (Mides) and the insecurity affecting Montevideo. “The lack of security is flagrant, flagrant because people are shy about going out,” she said, comparing the current situation with a city that, just a few years ago, was among the best ranked in terms of quality of life worldwide.

Obladía also highlighted the importance of women in the future parliament, mentioning figures such as Silvia Nane, Blanca Rodríguez and Liliam Kechichan, who she predicted will play a central role in the next Senate. “We are going to have the best Senate in a long time,” she said.

The speech ended with a recognition of the Frente Amplio militancy, which he described as the best in the country.
