According to Foreign Minister Luis Gilberto Murillo, starting next October, Colombian citizens will experience a significant reduction in the cost of their passport.
The new cost of the passport will be $180,000, a significant 12% decrease from the current price of $207,000. This economic adjustment is being made in a context of improvements in the passport issuing system, which include the implementation of new software designed to streamline the process.

Sisbén score to access the passport for free
In addition to the price reduction, the National Government has provided additional benefits to facilitate access for Colombians with fewer economic resources. Citizens who belong to levels 1 and 2 of Sisbén VI will be able to obtain the passport free of charge.
The scores to access the free passport are as follows:
- Level 1: Score from 0 to 44.79 in the urban area and from 0 to 32.98 in the rural area.
- Level 2: Score from 44.80 to 51.57 in the urban area and from 32.99 to 37.80 in the rural area.
With this measure, the Colombian government not only seeks to reduce the cost of a vital document, but also to improve accessibility and efficiency in its issuance.
