Loretta Ortiz Ahlf attended the Nuevo León Congress this weekend to speak about the reform of the Judicial Branch, which she has supported since it was proposed by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
At this meeting, members of the Judiciary threw a cake at the van in which Minister Ortiz Ahlf was traveling, chanting: “Loretta, incongruous, you failed the people” and “Loretta, sellout, you are not welcome.”
Ortiz has publicly expressed her support for judicial reform. She has also said that she is a founder of Morena.
The attack occurred hours after the Senate approved the reform and sent it to the Executive for publication in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF).
On Sunday, September 15, before the Grito de Independencia, President López Obrador signed the decree. The constitutional changes came into effect on Monday, September 16.
