Cicpc investigates the death of a prisoner in Falcón

The Coordination of Crimes against Persons Homicides of the Cicpc-Punto Fijo (Falcón), opened an investigation to clarify the death of Pedro Rafael Vicent Gómez (51), who was deprived of liberty in the Regional Anti-Drug Intelligence Unit (Uria) No. 13.

In this regard, the CICPC sent a letter to the Civil Registry of the Carirubana Municipality requesting the death certificate for Vicent Gómez. It also sent a letter to the Jardines Santa Ana Cemetery, located in Carirubana, to send them the burial certificate (marking of the grave) of the body.

Vicent Gómez was one of the sailors who worked on the Camacaro Group’s vessels. Vicent Gómez was under criminal prosecution along with 11 other people, accused of drug trafficking and money laundering, among others. This accusation has been refuted by the defense attorneys who point out that in the inspections carried out on the Camacaro Group’s fishing vessels they were unable to collect even a single pack of drugs.

Vicent Gómez had health problems associated with breathing, for which the 2nd Trial Court of Punto Fijo authorized a medical check-up on June 6, an order that was ignored, according to relatives.

On August 31, two months later, Vicent Gómez was transferred to the Rafael Calles Sierra hospital, located in Carirubana, where he died on September 12.

The cause of death was determined to be acute respiratory infection, bilateral pneumonia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, among others, according to the EV-14 death certificate to which we had partial access.
