The University Observatory reports that public services in educational institutions have failures of more than 80%, which makes it difficult to return to activities
Classes at universities are about to begin in Venezuela, with several academic, social and infrastructure challenges, where the student population faces a deficit in public services that already worsens the quality of life of all those who live on campus.
The University Observatory published on its social networks the Monday, September 16 that, according to the data collected in the so-called “Enobu 2023”, 91% of those who live in these areas do not have continuous water service and 86% do not have continuous electricity service.
In 95% of these schools, there is also no wireless connection, and 85% of the bathrooms do not work.
On the other hand, 86% of the university population does not have university transportation. In the case of teachers, 49% use public transportation – for which they have to pay a fare – and 32% walk to work. Students, on the other hand, have 53% of students who travel on foot and by university transportation.

Furthermore, 97% of students in public institutions do not receive scholarships, 92% do not receive public sector bonuses and 96% do not have access to a cafeteria service, which are crucial measures for continuing their academic studies.
This OBU study was carried out by surveying 3,751 people in all the entities of the country, where, of that total number, 2,620 were students and 1,131 were teachers; in a context where there has already been almost 700 days without an increase in the minimum wage.
It was therefore determined that 32% of teachers eat less than three times a day; as is the case in the student sector, although the percentage is 21%. Remember that 94% of teachers eat the same or worse than in 2022, as well as 81% of students.
Another 85% said that bathrooms do not work regularly and 95% lack internet connection service in their institutions.
