The economic commissions of Congress cancelled the debate that was scheduled for this Tuesday, September 17, to discuss the General Budget of the Nation (PGN) for 2025. The session was suspended on instructions from the board of directors.

It is worth remembering that last September 12th The Third and Fourth Joint Committees of the Senate and the House of Representatives debated, for the second time, the amount of the PGN for next year. However, the meeting was adjourned due to lack of a quorum to decide.
The Legislature set itself the goal reach a consensus before September 25. By this date, the entire proposal must be approved in the first debate, including the amounts broken down by sectors and entities.

In a scenario where an agreement is not reached before the established time, the law states that the Government can decree it under the same conditions in which it was originally presented and with the modifications that were defined and approved in the first debate.
The proposals that have been put on the table, but have not received approval, ranged from $499 billion and $511 billion. On the Government’s side, the amount stipulated by the Ministry of Finance was $523 billion, of which $12 billion would be raised through the Financing Bill.
