Bus with Mexicans crashes in Peru; they were going to Machu Picchu

“Four compatriots were injured with multiple fractures after a passenger bus in which they were traveling went off course. @EmbaMexPeru The SRE is already in contact with them and will provide them with the required assistance; it is in communication with the Peruvian authorities and is monitoring the situation to support the transfer of the injured to the nearest hospital for their care,” the SRE said on social media.

The Consettur company bus overturned in the town of Aguas Calientes after 11:00 a.m. when it was transporting around 30 tourists.

“A regrettable accident in Machu Picchu, Peru, in which Mexican people were affected. Our Mexican Embassy in Lima and our consular staff are already aware and will activate protection and assistance protocols,” he wrote on his social networks.

Media outlets shared videos showing people trying to help after the bus accident.

The tourists were travelling in a group organised by a travel agency, which is also collaborating in the rescue effort alongside local authorities.
