President Alberto Fernández said on Monday that the agreement with the International Monetary Fund to pay a debt “taken with incredible irresponsibility” will not stop “the growth of the country” and assured that it will not stop “the increase in pensions” or the increase in the real budget allocated to public works.
The Head of State headed this afternoon the inauguration of the municipal sports center of Santa Clara del Mar – a work that had stopped during the government of Mauricio Macri– and as a contrast he highlighted that the “Today Argentina has 3,700 public works (underway) and 100,000 homes (under construction) throughout the country.”
“We are going to do more works, the investment in public works is going to grow and there is going to be no agreement with the Fund that will stop the growth that we are going to impose. That the retirees be very calm, we will continue working so that they improve day by day, No There is no agreement that says that we are going to stop the increase in pensions,” said the President.
Fernández’s words responded to the journalistic versions that affirmed that the agreement with the multilateral credit organism concealed a pension reform.
“Every day one has to fight against the installed lie. I made a commitment to you and I’m not going to renege,” he said, adding that the Government of the Front of All fights to “order” a “crazed economy” left by the macrismo“with a very high inflation and a debt like Argentina never had, taken with incredible irresponsibility”.
Fernández said he believes that he is “living a hinge time” after the pandemic of Covid-19, but pointed out that during the two years in which the coronavirus monopolized everyone’s attention, his administration did “an infinite number of things”, such as the gym that was inaugurated today in Santa Clara del Mar.
“Today’s Argentina has 3,700 public works and 100,000 homes throughout the country and this began to happen in the midst of the pandemic,” he pointed out.
“There are Argentines who need Argentina to get up and with that decision we want to face the future.”
He also made reference to the fires that affect the province of Corrientes and described this situation as “a tragedy.”
In this regard, he said that the national government put all its forces to help: “What is true is that we do not write Twitter with that, we do not advertise with that, but we have sent all our firefighters, all our hydrants, we have sent all the helicopters to try to put that out, we have sent all our security forces.
“Argentina is one, there is not a center Argentina and a periphery. There are Argentines who need Argentina to get up and with that decision we want to face the future.”he remarked.
Accompanied by the Minister of Public Works, Gabriel Katopodis, Fernández referred to various works for the Atlantic Coast region and recalled that in the four years that preceded his management “17 kilometers” of Route 11 were built and that the management of the FdT made “158 between route 11 and 56 that joins with route 2”.

Previously, the local mayor, Jorge Paredi, had stressed the need to turn the 70-kilometre link between Santa Clara and Villa Gesell into a highway.

The work inaugurated today was reactivated in April 2021 after being paralyzed in the four years of the Cambiemos administration, between 2015 and 2019, and the completion of the work involved an investment of 150 million pesos and the generation of 120 direct jobs.
The sports center of the commune, as reported, will now benefit the more than 18,000 people who live in 11 locations in the region.
In the “El Diego” Municipal Park, a public space of 1,500 square meters was built for different sports activities, which includes a 420-square-meter basketball court, while the facilities will also be used by the party’s Physical Education Center , which was not based in the coastal area, and will be available to schools.
