Ron Santa Teresa clarifies that it did not sell the company to the Bacardi group

This liquor company generates more than 2,000 direct and indirect jobs and is currently led by the fifth generation. The group was founded in 1796 and its main processing plant is located in Consejo, Aragua state.


The Venezuelan company Ron Santa Teresa clarified in a statement released on Monday, September 16, that it is not for sale, after information circulated on social media about a possible purchase by the multinational Bacardi.

“We want to communicate to the Venezuelan public that Santa Teresa is not for sale, we remain focused on a work that spans 228 years of history, whose will is to remain faithful to its origin, history and purpose,” reads the statement shared with SuchWhich.

Regarding the information that circulated on Monday, the company stated: “Once again, clearly identified subordinate interests are trying to undermine the institutionality of Ron Santa Teresa with false information.”

On the other hand, Ron Santa Teresa clarified that it has had an international distribution agreement with Bacardi since 2016, which allows it to be present in more than 90 countries.

One of the group’s most awarded rums is Santa Teresa 1796, which is produced at the estate located in El Consejo.

Santa Teresa has been making rum for the past 228 years and It is run by Venezuelan businessman Alberto Vollmer.

Bacardi is a liquor company founded in Santiago de Cuba, which revolutionized the process of making rum by creating a smooth, light-bodied liquor, which is known worldwide as Bacardi rum. This group has a presence in several countries.
