In a discussion panel held by Azucena Uresti in Formula Radioin which he participated this Monday with former senator Emilio Álvarez Icaza, the Morena member insisted that the opposition does not understand the majority vote that was given at the polls on June 2.
That is why he mentioned that now his party must go for “disappearing” that opposition. “I am proposing it, through democratic means of course, at the polls, we are going to launch Plan D, which will be the disappearance of the opposition in 2027. That is the plan,” he said when questioned by the journalist about who is proposing this new plan.
President Andrés Manuel López Obrador called on his supporters in 2023 to go for “Plan C,” which consisted of obtaining a majority in both chambers of the Congress of the Union to be able to implement the legislative changes he proposes, without an opposition that could stop his proposals.
In the debate, Álvarez Icaza criticized this position for being “authoritarian,” “that is irrational.”
“Look, Israel: 43% of the vote doesn’t seem to exist to you? In the legislative election, Morena and its allies had 54% and the opposition as a whole had 43%, and you think it doesn’t exist? That is a reflection of this totalitarian narrative that you have… And now you want to make that 43% disappear? For the love of God, Israel, find a plural Mexico!” said the former legislator.
In defense of his proposal, Zamora ruled out that this is authoritarian and assured that a dictatorship is not possible in Mexico because “the people are hyperpoliticized, the people of Mexico are the ones who decided the course for this six-year term, not the apparatus, as before when there was fraud.”
“They disregard the popular will,” Zamora said when explaining the reasons for his proposal.
