Five cities in the state of São Paulo have active fires

The state of São Paulo has five municipalities with ongoing fires, the state’s Civil Defense reported on Monday (16). Ten aircraft are assisting the work of containing the flames carried out by the Civil Defense and Fire Department. The aircraft are divided between the municipalities of Bananal, Mococa, Tapiratiba, Itirapuã and Castilho. According to the Civil Defense, so far, in the five municipalities with ongoing fires, six fixed-wing and four rotary-wing aircraft are being used to fight the fire.

According to the daily bulletin of the Environmental Company of the State of São Paulo (Cetesb), the meteorological conditions for the next 24 hours in the metropolitan region of Campinas, north and center-west of the state are favorable to the dispersion of pollutants, and the air quality is between good and moderate.

In the metropolitan region of São Paulo, the conditions are the same, however, the air quality is good. “The action of an area of instability associated with a cold front between the coasts of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro will cause variable cloudiness and good ventilation, with the possibility of scattered rain, mainly in the eastern part of the state”, says Cetesb.Five cities in the state of São Paulo have active fires

Weather in the capital

The city of São Paulo woke up today with overcast skies and light to moderate rain. The automatic weather stations of the city’s Emergency Management Center (CGE) recorded 13°C in Capela do Socorro, in the south zone, and 17°C in Itaim Paulista, in the east zone. The relative humidity in these locations is 100%. The average rainfall in the city between midnight and 7 am was 3.5 mm (millimeters), which corresponds to 5.1 mm of the monthly average, which is 68.5 mm.

The accumulated rainfall volume since the beginning of September is just 3.9 mm of rain, which corresponds to 5.7% of the 68.5 mm expected for the month.

According to CGE meteorologists, the formation of a low pressure area generated instability that moved from Paraná to the state of São Paulo, causing the day to start with light to moderate rain and improving air quality. According to CGE, the rain is expected to continue intermittently in the morning and lose intensity in the afternoon. “Due to the overcast and humid weather, the temperature will not rise much. The maximum temperature should not exceed 18°C, and the minimum temperature of 14°C should be observed during the night.”

In the coming days, the weather is expected to remain unstable and with high humidity in the city of São Paulo.

Tuesday (17) should start with cloudy weather and occasional drizzle. Overcast skies will predominate throughout the day, with a slight feeling of cold and a minimum temperature of 14°C and a maximum of 18°C. On Wednesday (18), there will be many clouds and few sunny spells, with the spread of areas of instability causing rain in the form of isolated and quick showers. Temperatures should range between 14°C in the early morning and 22°C in the early afternoon.
