Santo Domingo East.–Vice President Raquel Peña will break ground this coming Tuesday for the construction of the extension of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) in Santo Domingo Este, according to information provided by Minister of the Presidency José Ignacio Paliza during a Council of Ministers and Directors held in this municipality this Sunday, headed by President Luis Abinader and Peña.
In this regard, the Minister of the Presidency, José Ignacio Paliza, reported that the cost of building the UASD will be around RD$1.5 billion and will be built in the surroundings of Ciudad Juan Bosch.
In addition, President Abinader announced the start and completion of other important works for the residents of this area.
The mayor said that the buildings analyzed during the council are essential for this municipality.
During the meeting, which lasted three hours, each of the commitments that have been developed in these four years in the municipality of Santo Domingo Este were reviewed and learned about.
The Head of State reported that the Palace of Justice will be finished by the end of this year.
In this regard, he asked Mayor Dío Astacio to chair a commission to determine the works that can complement the services of the Palace of Justice in coordination with the Ministry of Public Works.
He also said that the Santo Domingo Metropolitan Train is in the process of being tendered. It would start at Máximo Gómez and John F. Kennedy Avenue in the National District and cross the Duarte Bridge to Charles de Gaulle and then take the entire Ecological Avenue of this town.
He also highlighted that the municipality plans to build a general hospital, three sewage treatment plants, improve and reconstruct the Malecón de Santo Domingo Este, and that more than 10,000 property titles will be delivered.
He highlighted that the municipality has already worked on an extension of the ITLA, two INFOTEP installations, and has built the extension of the Ecológica avenues that will reach Boca Chica, the Hípica and the Coronel Fernández Domínguez (San Isidro Highway). He also added that they have plans to improve the Mella highway to San Isidro.
Paliza said that nearly 80% of the municipality’s actions have been fulfilled, while others are still being implemented.
