"Why the rush?"asks the church after approval of the Judicial Reform

“A week ago, we raised a concern to the legislators of the ruling bloc: why the rush to approve the Judicial Reform without adequate dialogue, an exhaustive analysis and consideration of all the sectors involved?” the Catholic Church recalled in its Editorial in the magazine Desde la Fe .

He also stressed that patience must prevail, and called on politicians to make “urgent decisions” with due process of listening and dialogue.

“Haste must not replace patience, a fundamental virtue according to the teachings of Pope Francis. (…) Patience is key to weaving good, in contrast to unbridled urgency that can only lead to hasty and divisive decisions,” he added.

The Church also stressed that patience “is essential to overcome the challenges facing the country, marked by corruption and violence.”

“We call once again on our leaders to act with virtue, listen to all parties involved and foster inclusive dialogue. We are not in a fight of good versus evil; we must avoid deepening divisions and promote unity in our country. May the grace of hope and patience guide us on the path to a better future for all,” he added.

Following approval by the Chamber of Deputies, the Senate and more than 17 state congresses, it is expected that this Sunday, September 15, the Judicial Reform will be published by President López Obrador in the Official Gazette of the Federation.
