SANTO DOMINGO.- Two alleged criminals, who were wanted for multiple violent acts in Baní, Peravia province, and had five arrest warrants against them, were shot dead after allegedly confronting a police patrol sequentially in the Invivienda and Los Corales de San Luis sectors, respectively, in the Santo Domingo Este municipality.
They are Rafael Emilio Velázquez Florentino, alias “Albertico el Guardia” and Carlos José Díaz, alias “El Boris”, who were found to be in possession of firearms that they were carrying illegally at the time of their confrontation with the agents.
According to the preliminary report, Velázquez Florentino and Díaz were wanted for their participation in several violent crimes, including homicides and shootings in Baní.
The police report states that both men confronted the authorities when they were trying to evade an intelligence operation in the Invivienda and Los Corales sectors, respectively. “Upon noticing the police presence, both criminals opened fire with 9mm caliber pistols, which caused the officers to retaliate, resulting in the criminals sustaining the injuries that subsequently caused their deaths,” the police report states.
The institution indicated that the weapons seized were a Ruger brand pistol, caliber 9mm, and another of illegible brand and number, which the deceased were carrying illegally.

According to the police, Rafael Emilio Velázquez Florentino and Carlos José Díaz had multiple arrest warrants, including for the crimes committed against Roderky Peña Vicente and José Altagracia de Jesús Aria Tejeda, in addition to their participation in the murder of José Miguel Morillo, alias “El Cachorro,” which occurred in July of this year.
Both bodies were sent to Forensic Pathology for the corresponding purposes.
