Forest fires continue to be reported in the country, affecting fauna, flora, hamlets and even archaeological sites in some regions, such as Amazonas, Lambayeque, Madre de Dios, Pasco, San Martín, Piura, Tumbes and others. In view of the occurrence of forest fires in different regions of the country, the Ministry of the Environment (Minam) is on high alert.

It was reported that this sector has been supporting the institutions at the first level of intervention through its technical departments and competent affiliated bodies.
The Minister of the Environment, Juan Carlos Castro, He called on farmers and the general population to stop agricultural burning in high Andean and Amazonian areas, given that This practice is causing a large percentage of forest fires in various regions of the country.
Specialists from the Territorial Planning Department monitor the risk conditions of fires and damage to the ecosystem. This information is sent to regional governments, municipalities and competent entities so that they can adopt the appropriate preventive or intervention measures.
Forest rangers, forest firefighters
In order to protect the biodiversity and territory of protected natural areas, the forest firefighter ranger teams of the National Service of Natural Protected Areas of the State (Sernanp) have been supporting emergencies in the following jurisdictions:
-Staff from the Tambopata National Reserve, at the Tahuamanu forest fire in Madre de Dios.
-Staff from the Cordillera Colan National Sanctuary, during the forest fire in the province of Utcubamba in Amazonas.
-Yanachaga Chemillen National Park staff at the forest fire in the Huancabamba district of Pasco.
– Staff of the Laquipampa Wildlife Refuge, at the forest fire in Incahuasi in Lambayeque.
-Personnel from the Alto Mayo Protection Forest will begin response actions inside the natural area and in its Buffer Zone in San Martin.
-Personnel from the Tabaconas Namballe National Sanctuary remain on alert in response to the forest fire in Huancabamba, Piura.
-Personnel from the Cerros de Amotape National Park and the Tumbes National Reserve have been working for more than five days to control the fire in the Ucumares and Cabo Inga sectors.
Likewise, within the sectoral actions, the National Meteorological and Hydrological Service (Senamhi) coordinates with national and regional authorities the meteorological and hydrological monitoring and forecasting. The information generated is valuable for decision-making.
In addition, it is reinforcing the #NoRealicesQuemas campaign, since it is known that More than 90% of forest fires are caused by human activity.
“The dry season, a condition that favors forest fires, will continue in October and December. Hence the importance of reinforcing prevention actions among the population,” said the president of Senamhi, Gabriela Rosas.
