Santo Domingo.-The bicameral commission that studies the bill of constitutional reform He reported that the public hearings have concluded and said that starting with tomorrow’s meeting at 3:00 p.m. they will begin to agree on the report that they will submit to the full Senate.
The president of the commission, Pedro Catrain, explained that they expect to submit their report at the end of this month.
He reported that they have to move forward with the issues of the constitutional reform proposed by President Luis Abinader, because in the coming days they will receive other reform projects and there will be a lot of work to be done.

“All invitations have been closed and we are now going to enter into a process of internal discussion within the commission. We have finished with the Central Electoral Board, the Superior Electoral Court, and seven jurists and the legal advisor of the Executive Branch, Antoliano Peralta, also spoke,” explained the vice president of the Senate.
He added that “I believe that by the end of this month of September we will have the report, because there are a series of important reforms coming, including tax reform, labor reform, reform of the social security system, so we have to move forward, we cannot delay in being able to respond to all these reforms that are coming.”
On Monday at 3:00 p.m., the bicameral commission made up of 8 senators and 18 deputies will dedicate itself to reaching consensus on the points of the proposed reform and preparing its report to the Upper House.
Once it is known and approved by the senators, the project will then go to the Chamber of Deputies, where it will also be debated.
Initially, Catrain reported that holding public hearings and inviting other representative sectors such as the Constitutional Court and the Public Ministry was not ruled out.
However, according to the explanations of the representative of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) for the province of Samana, time is pressing and in the next few days the congressmen will have to devote themselves to learning about and debating a set of structural reforms that the Executive Branch will submit.
In its statement, the Superior Electoral Tribunal (TSE) did not object to the proposal to unify the presidential elections with the congressional and municipal elections, Catrain.
“The Supreme Electoral Court has no concerns about the issue of unifying elections, and has even raised the advantage of having unified elections,” he said.
