La Vega— In an effort to bring health services closer to the population, Vice President Raquel Peña and the director of the National Health Service (SNS) Mario Lama, inaugurated the Doctora Armida García Municipal Hospital and the Palmarito Primary Care Diagnostic Center.

The two health projects will benefit 423,978 inhabitants, who will receive health services in dignified spaces, with state-of-the-art equipment and all the required administrative and support staff.

During the ceremony, the vice president stressed that these health centers represent an investment in the present of La Vega and are just one of the health networks that continue to expand throughout the country, ensuring that all citizens have access to decent, quality medical care.

“From the Health Cabinet, we continue working to ensure that every Dominican has access to a healthier and fuller life,” he added.

For his part, Dr. Mario Lama said: “With the delivery of these two works, we are adding to the Public Network health facilities that are equipped and in accordance with health protocols. Works like these come to change the dynamics of health, making a reality what President Luis Abinader has been preaching for a long time, that health is not a privilege of a few, health is a right of all.”

He detailed the schedule for the implementation of the services of the Armida García hospital, which begins next Friday the 20th with Consultations, Emergency, Sonography, X-rays and Laboratory, while the hospitalization services and operating rooms will open on Friday the 27th, to leave the health center operating at 100%.

“This time is necessary to train medical staff on the proper handling of the new equipment,” he said.

The expansion of the Armida García Hospital Emergency Room has new areas such as: four observation cubicles, a resuscitation box, triage, nursing station, emergency office, waiting room, treatment, suturing and nebulization.

The renovation also included 20 hospital beds, eight consulting rooms, a nursing station, dentistry, two operating rooms, two pre-surgical and post-surgical beds. In addition, there was a waiting room, ultrasound, triage, vaccination, laboratory, a delivery room, plaster, X-rays, four neonatal cribs, a cervocuna, an incubator, three observation cubicles and one gynecological cubicle, billing, laundry, medical breaks, administrative areas and a kitchen, all with an investment of RD$ 149,864,062.47 pesos.

Palmarito Clinical and Diagnostic Center

Meanwhile, the Palmarito Clinical and Diagnostic Center has an internal medicine office, gynecology, pediatrics, psychology, vaccination, two dentistry areas, laboratory, sample collection, mammography, sonography, X-rays, physical therapy, internal pharmacy, administration and a lounge area for doctors.

In addition, electrical installations, medium voltage, data center, surveillance cameras, countertops and cabinets, doors, signage, window lamination, interior and exterior painting were carried out, with a total investment of RD$ 26,237,577.19 pesos.

They hit the ground running

Likewise, Vice President Raquel Peña and the head of the SNS, Mario Lama, laid the groundwork to begin the expansion work on the hospitalization area of ​​the Dr. Luis Morillo King Regional Hospital.

Dr. Lama emphasized that with the expansion of Morillo King, it will have greater capacity to respond, which will positively impact the quality of life of Veganos and surrounding areas.

He explained that the new area will have 30 beds, will be located above the existing Emergency building and will have an investment of RD$ 142,411,633.02 pesos.
