MADRID, Spain.- The Acosta Dance Foundation (ADF), chaired by renowned Cuban dancer and director Carlos Acosta, announced this week in Miami the opening of the calls for scholarships and residences of the year 2025These programs are designed to support emerging choreographers from around the world in their creative processes, offering opportunities to develop new tools and explore innovative forms in dance.
Key initiatives include the Carlos Acosta Choreographic Fellowship (CACF), which will provide a stipend of up to £15,000 to professional choreographers. The aim of this award is to empower choreographers artistsproviding them with resources to create innovative systems and strengthen their ability to transform the art of movement. The scholarship, through the promotion of new voices and the creation of new works, seeks to generate a profound impact on the choreographic development of ballet.
“We strongly believe in fostering interconnected artistic communities to create meaningful impact and drive substantial system-wide change through the power of dance,” said Javier Torres, Executive Director of ADF and Acosta Dance Centre (ADC). The selection process for the beneficiaries will be inclusive and transparent, with three rounds of peer review, ensuring equal opportunities for all applicants.
In addition to the CACF, ADF and ADC also launched a call for artistic residencies focused on the research and creation of new digital works. This program is open to international participants and focuses on exploring the opportunities offered by digital dance.
The Acosta Dance Centre, located at Woolwich Works, London, serves as a platform for connecting artistic creations with global audiences, under the direction of Carlos Acosta, who continues his work in the development of dance from his position as artistic director of Birmingham Royal Ballet.
