Santo Domingo.- Agents of the National Directorate of Drug Control (DNCD) and members of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, They seized more than 20 thousand grams (20 packages) presumably cocaine and marijuana, in two simultaneous operations, carried out in Villa Mella, Santo Domingo Norte municipality.
The operational units were following an individual who, according to reports, was engaged in the sale of controlled substances, so they set up a surveillance and interdiction operation, managing to intercept him aboard a vehicle on 7th Street, Cerros de Buena Vista 2nd development, Villa Mella, Santo Domingo Norte Municipality.
Following instructions from the acting prosecutor, an inspection was carried out at the Honda brand jeep, model CRV, license plate number G597000, finding in the trunk, a black backpack, inside which 17 packages were confiscated of a substance believed to be cocaine, wrapped with adhesive tape and marked with various logos.
“The detainee, a 39-year-old Dominican, was also found to have a cell phone, RD$12,900 Dominican pesos, US$12 dollars, clothing and personal documents.”
Continuing with the case, the operatives carried out a raid in an apartment in the Urbanización Cerros de Buena Vista II, property of the detainee, where they seized a suitcase with another package of alleged cocaine and two bales of marijuana, for a total of more than 20,000 grams (20 packages).
In legal intervention, Authorities confiscated another US$5,220, a scale, among other evidence related to the investigation.
The detainee is in the custody of the Permanent Attention jurisdiction of the Santo Domingo Norte municipality for the corresponding purposes, while the Public Ministry and the DNCD pursue other members of this micro-trafficking network that operates in Greater Santo Domingo.
The 20 packages of the alleged drug were sent to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) to determine the type and weight of the substance.
