This Monday, February 21, the President of the Republic, Luis Lacalle Pou, spoke within the framework of the Dubai Expo, in which he invited those present to invest in Uruguay and presented the country as a safe destination.

“We want them to go to our country to invest so that they have the possibility of being owners, partners and shareholders of the generation of food,” he assured.

Lacalle Pou highlighted Uruguayan “freedom”, “stability” and “security”, and assured that the country “is willing to offer the world the elements to be free”, and that it cannot be without “food”, “peaceful relations”, “state-of-the-art technology” and “possibility of moving”.

In addition, he affirmed that Uruguay “is a great nation that has a cumulative process of many years” and that makes “its best men, its best women and its best historical tradition” available. And he said that in such a “turbulent world” the country “ensures contracts”, “laws”, “constitutionality” and “peace”.

Lacalle Pou pointed out certain “fundamental axes”, such as the “health in three aspects”: “human”, “animal” and “environmental”. “We have seen lately that the big nations are beginning to understand that the environmental component is closely linked to the economic one”explained the president. “Uruguay is a country that has led the way in environmental issues and has a very big commitment,” he assured.

Another fundamental axis, according to Lacalle Pou, is “food security”; that “it is not only the ability to resort to markets”.
