Disney channels return to DirecTV after agreement to end their dispute

Washington, Sep 14 (EFE).- The American satellite subscription television provider DirecTV and the media and entertainment conglomerate Walt Disney Company announced this Saturday that they reached an agreement under which the multinational’s channels will return to the platform.

In a statement, both companies announced the end of hostilities, the immediate restoration of the canals and explained that they are working to finalize a long-term contract.

Since September 1, the channels of the conglomerate, the largest in the world, (among them platforms such as Hulu, ESPN or Disney) have been inactive for the 11.3 million DirecTV customers.

A dispute over streaming fees DirecTV pays Disney, with the provider filing a complaint Saturday with the Federal Communications Commission alleging that Disney did not negotiate in good faith.

“We would like to thank all affected viewers for their patience and are pleased to restore Disney’s entire portfolio of networks in time for college football and the Emmy Awards this weekend,” the companies said in a joint statement today. EFE
