In a meeting marked between the outgoing minister of the Segpres, Juan José Ossa and Giorgio Jackson, who will be his successor in charge of the portfolio since March 11, they addressed the various challenges that the incoming administration will have regarding the work of the Constitutional Convention, which was established during the government of President Sebastián Piñera and will end its process in the mandate of the elected President, Gabriel Boric.
Once the meeting was over, Ossa confirmed what were the main topics of conversation that they held throughout the meeting, which lasted approximately one hour and where the foundations of the analysis of the final stage of the drafting body were laid.
“We talked about the Convention, everyone knows that it was learning, learning pains, growing pains that we were having, but soon the Executive had a very fluid relationship with both tables,” he said. “
“We passed on some ideas, knowledge and advice, but we also agreed to have a special meeting to review the Convention. But I would dare to say that from the perspective of the Executive’s contribution to the Convention and beyond the substantive, the most relevant has already happened, the most relevant has already been learned and filmed, but naturally the next government You can make all the adjustments you deem convenient.
After being asked about the relationship between the government of the President-elect, Gabriel Boric, and the Constitutional Convention, the next minister of the Segpres, Giorgio Jackson, announced that they will collaborate with everything necessary that the body requires.
“Our complete disposition to favor everything that means the facilitation of the processes so that the constituent process can come to a successful conclusion and the text can emanate so that at all the times that have been agreed upon, citizens can finally decide if they want to have a new constitutional text or not”, he stated.
Along the same lines, Jackson assured that he remains in communication with the board of directors of the body and ratified Matías Cox as the person in charge of the coordination and secretary of the Convention, who will continue in his position.
“I have made contact with the president of the Convention, with whom we have defined that we are going to have work meetings, with members of the table and I have also ratified Matías Cox, at the request of the President-elect and in conversation with the table of the Convention. to maintain the coordination and the Administrative Secretary of the Constitutional Convention”, he asserted.
“I hope from March 11 that as a government we can make ourselves available to what the Constitutional Convention and all citizens expect from this process of changes that are being prepared for our Magna Carta,” he concluded.
