The 2024 edition of the Revelando São Paulo festival, the largest event dedicated to regional cultures in the state, ends this weekend, after passing through the cities of Barretos, Iguape, Presidente Prudente and São José dos Campos. According to the festival’s press office, the editions in the interior received 200 thousand visitors. The edition in the capital, which began on Thursday (12) and runs until Sunday (15), is expected to attract 80 thousand people, with the largest concentration on Saturday and Sunday. The festival is free.
The program is varied, with craft stalls and typical São Paulo cuisine foods, distributed throughout the exhibition area of Parque da Água Branca, which houses government agencies such as the Department of Agriculture, and is located in the west zone of the city. The 142 participants represent 88 municipalities from 12 regions of São Paulo. There will also be presentations of traditional dance and music, as well as concerts such as the one by the guitarist Almir Satter, which closed the stage program yesterday.
In a note, the organization informed the Brazil Agency that the curation of Revelando São Paulo is guided by tradition and the transmission of this knowledge, which is passed down from generation to generation. “It is a reverence to these masters, guardians of the most traditional expressions of our diverse culture.”
This diversity can be seen at the event through the communities represented: caipiras, caiçaras, indigenous peoples, quilombolas and gypsies. In addition, this year Revelando has partnered with other institutions, such as Catavento and the Museu de Arte Sacra, which bring the experience of traditional cultures through aesthetics”.
