The legend behind the Portales del Fragüita

This landscape, which seems to have come from a natural work of art, is surrounded by local myths and legends. It is said that the two mountains that form the portal are the petrified remains of two beings who loved each other deeply.

According to legend, a man and a woman from rival indigenous tribes located on either side of the river asked their god to be able to gaze upon each other for eternity.

Thus, they were transformed into mountains that to this day remain looking at each other across the Fragüita River.

Tourism and adventure in Caquetá

Improved security in the region has allowed tourism to flourish in this remote area of Colombia. Ventures such as TourVentura offer guided tours to enjoy the tranquility of the river and the jungle landscapes of Portal del Fragua.

In addition, the region offers various adventure options, such as exploring caves, ravines and waterfalls that run through the valleys and canyons of San José del Fragua.
