PUERTO PLATA.– Man who killed his own son, whom he had with his partner, and assaulted her and her stepfather, in an incident that occurred in Villa Redención, in the municipality of Sosúa, on August 25, has been placed in preventive detention.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office, represented by prosecutor Maribel Reynoso, demonstrated before Judge Romaldi Marcelino, of the Permanent Attention Office of this judicial district, the magistrate, the seriousness of the acts committed by Marco Michel Martínez, who is known as “Make Michel” or “Boki El Pollero, and the risk to which the victims were exposed, and the process itself, if preventive detention was not applied as a coercive measure against the accused.
In the investigation carried out by prosecutor Leury V. Ureña Morrobel, the Public Prosecutor’s Office establishes that, given the victim’s refusal, Fanise Charles, also known as María Jean, to have sexual relations with him, Martínez threatened to kill her, at which point the woman, who was with their three-year-old son, began to call for help, at which point the attacker attacked her with a knife-type weapon and wounded her several times in the chest.

After this first attack, Martínez grabbed their three-year-old son and inflicted a sword wound on him, then resumed the attack against Charles, whom he stabbed in the back in this new act of aggression.
When the woman’s stepfather, Omar Damas, cried for help, she and her mother went to the house where the crime was taking place. After managing to open the door, she was wounded in the chest by the attacker, who took advantage of the moment to flee the scene.
The provisional legal classification granted by the Public Prosecutor’s Office to the acts committed by Martínez includes violations of articles 295, 300 and 302 of the Dominican Penal Code in relation to infanticide, and articles 2, 295 and 304 for attempted homicide.
