Before a half-empty Senate plenary, with the presence only of senators from Morena and its allies, the president of the senatorial board of directors, Gerardo Fernández Noroña, declared the Constitution reformed in terms of the Judicial Branch, with the endorsement of 23 of 32 state legislatures.
Amid applause, the legislator sent the declaration of constitutional reform to the Chamber of Deputies for the same procedure, and declared it pending so that as soon as the decree is returned to him, he can send it to the Executive for publication in the Official Gazette of the Federation; the reform will come into force the following day.
“The decree amending, adding to and repealing various provisions of the Mexican Constitution regarding the reform of the Judiciary is hereby declared approved,” Noroña said.
“The matter is being referred to the House of Representatives for the corresponding declaration. The presidency will continue to be attentive to receive resolutions from other state legislatures on this matter, which will be included in the file,” he added.
