Mining investment grew 9.8% between January and July

Between January and July of this year, the investment mining amounted to US$2,512 million, which meant a growth of 9.8% compared to the same period in 2023, according to data from the Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem).

In July alone, mining expenditures totaled US$392 million, an increase of 8.7% compared to the same month last year.

Those that registered the highest investment in the seventh month were Compañía Minera Antamina SA, Anglo American Quellaveco, Minera Las Bambas and Sociedad Minera Cerro Verde SAA

By region, Moquegua remained in first place, registering an amount of more than US$406 million, which represented 16.2% of the total. Áncash and Arequipa were in second and third place with 13.2% and 11.1% respectively.

On the other hand, employment registered a total of 235,193 workers, showing an increase of 0.3% in relation to what was registered the previous month. In this regard, the highest figure recorded so far in 2024 was achieved.
