Fiestas Patrias 2024: these are the times with the most traffic congestion on the roads from September 13 to 22

The National Holidays 2024 is fast approaching, and this year it will be longer than usual, with a series of holidays that will make it possible to enjoy an extended celebration. As Chileans prepare for these festivities, a notable increase in vehicle traffic is also anticipated on the country’s main routes. According to government estimates, approximately one million vehicles will leave the Metropolitan region between September 13 and 22, which will generate a considerable flow on Chile’s roads.

This massive displacement of people to tourist destinations or to their cities of origin is already a tradition during the National Holidays, which has led the authorities to implement measures to mitigate the congestionAmong the most anticipated initiatives is the “peaje a luca” (a luca toll), which will be applied on several key roads, such as Route 68, Route 5 South and Route 5 North. This discount seeks to encourage drivers to travel during less congested times and, in this way, distribute traffic more equitably during the holiday period.
