Ministerio de Energía y Minas dona mamógrafo de última generación al Hospital Materno Reynaldo Almánzar

SANTO DOMINGO.– He Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM), through the Vice Ministry of Nuclear Energy, delivered mammogram state-of-the-art technology to the Reynaldo Almánzar Maternity Hospital, to improve the operational capacity to provide services to users of that health center.

The equipment, managed through the technical cooperation of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), was delivered by the Vice Minister of Energy Savings and Efficiency, Alfonso Rodríguez, representing Minister Joel Santos Echavarría, and received by the director of the center, Freddy Manuel Novas.

This is a fully digital mammogram with cutting-edge technology for performing diagnostic tests using high-quality images, which allows health personnel to diagnose with high precision. The equipment was installed and ready to be put into operation.

During the event, Alfonso Rodríguez highlighted that for the MEM all issues related to collaboration with the health sector are a priority and constant efforts are dedicated to achieving contributions that improve the care provided to end users.

“We are very hopeful and very happy that this mammogram will be put to proper use here,” said Rodriguez, noting that the hospital’s medical and technical staff have shown great diligence in putting the new equipment to use.

Meanwhile, Freddy Manuel Novas thanked the donation and said that with this machinery they can expand the number of x-rays performed on mothers, which are in great demand at this health center.

“This comes at a good time, because October is the international month of awareness of the fight against breast cancer and we will be launching it in the different operations that we carry out,” said Novas.

The director of Promotion, Diffusion and Nuclear Energy Projects, Edith Paulino, and Gerardo Acosta, administrative and financial manager, were present at the activity, representing the Reynaldo Almánzar Hospital; Rosanna Novas, in charge of the imaging area; and Lorenzo Pereyra, deputy director of operations.
