PSUV Youth marches this Thursday for its 16th anniversary

On September 12, 2008, Commander Hugo Chávez created the Youth of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (JPSUV), as a fundamental axis of this political party to organize, train and incorporate Venezuelan youth into revolutionary political activism and radically transform society.

The Jpsuv was created by Chávez during a congress of elected delegates from all over the country in Ciudad Guayana, Bolívar state. There, the statutes and declaration of principles were discussed and approved.

Among its founding leaders are the current Minister of Education, Héctor Rodríguez, the young martyr Robert Serra, as well as other political leaders such as César Trómpiz, Osly Hernández and Libertad Velasco.

The first steps

The political organization was born at the founding congress of the Jpsuv that took place between September 11 and 13, 2008 in Ciudad Guayana, Bolívar state, with the participation of more than 1,400 elected delegates from all over the country and which also had the presence of international delegates from Latin America, Europe, Oceania and the United States.

The roundtables and plenary sessions were held at the Cachamay Total Entertainment Center, where the delegates expressed their support for the PSUV candidates for the regional elections to be held in November, where the Bolivarian Revolution emerged victorious.

The closing ceremony took place in the Caruachi dam’s acoustic shell, in the presence of the President of the Republic, Hugo Chávez.

The delegates approved by acclamation the declaration of principles and statutes that currently govern the organization and operation of the Jpsuv, as well as the “Cachamay Declaration.”

Another important point in the creation of the Jpsuv is the holding of the Youth Chapter of the III Congress of the PSUV between August 18 and September 6, 2014, with sports, recreational and cultural events, as well as debate assemblies with young activists in all the municipalities of the country and meetings with the university youth sectors, workers, women, indigenous people, athletes, culture and secondary education, for the discussion of the working documents: “Decisions of the III Congress of the PSUV”, “Bicentennial Declaration”, “Youth and State Policies” and “Fundamental Processes of Political Organization”.

During that day, young PSUV militants participated in 335 municipal assemblies for the election of 1,043 delegates to the national plenary session of the Youth Chapter of the Third Congress of the PSUV, which took place in the city of Caracas, from September 10 to 12, 2015, within the framework of the sixth anniversary of the PSUV.

In addition to the debate and approval of the working documents, delegates participated in cultural and recreational activities.

Present

The organization has more than two million registered members, aged between 15 and 30, who are part of the Bolívar-Chávez Battle Units (UBCh).

The current secretary general of the organization is Grecia Colmenares, who is also the Minister of Youth recently appointed by President Nicolás Maduro.

Conferences

It has been 16 years since its creation and to celebrate it, several activities will be held, starting with the Great March of Venezuelan Youth that will depart today from the University of the Arts (Unearte), in Bellas Artes, at 12 noon.

The general secretary of the Jpsuv and current Minister of Youth, Grecia Colmenares, reported that, in addition, the Great National Festival will be held throughout the country to celebrate this date, which will have the participation of more than 200 international delegates.
“Friends from Venezuela, young people under 30 years old, who will share different activities with us,” said the minister.

He explained that international guests will attend representing political organizations and social movements.

“Today, Venezuela is the hope not only of this continent, but of many peoples of the world, who believe in win-win relations between countries, in relations of cooperation, of fair exchange, and believe in a multipolar world,” he added.

He added that the awareness sown by Commander Chavez and fertilized by President Nicolas Maduro continues to bear more fruit, which is why the Jpsuv continues to assume its fundamental processes, “recruitment, organization, training, mobilization, the integral defense of the Homeland and production.”

I point out that today’s youth is involved “in the development of new ventures, which rely on their creativity to fulfill their personal life projects, but positively impacting the country’s economic development.”

Programmatic lines

Among the guidelines of this organization created by Commander Hugo Chavez, we can highlight, as established in article 2 of its statutes, the fight against imperialism, against corruption, bureaucracy and ultimately the construction of a society of equals, assuming the principles of equality, freedom, leading participation, self-criticism, diversity of criteria, pluricultural and multiethnic thought, humanism and Bolivarianism, among others.

During the broadcast of one of his Aló Presidente programs, Commander Hugo Chávez called on Venezuelan youth to be the guarantee of the Bolivarian Revolution. “Socialist youth is the future, you are the greatest guarantee of the permanence of this Bolivarian Revolution, boys and girls. Know it: the greatest guarantee,” he stressed.
