Nearly 800,000 students from the city of Buenos Aires and Mendoza returned to the classrooms this Monday at the start of a school year that aims to maintain normality with full presence in schools in the context of the coronavirus pandemic, while that the rest of the provinces will start classes on March 2.

“We wish girls, boys, families and teachers a good start to classes. A restorative school year begins, with full, safe and continuous attendance”, said this Monday Education Minister Jaime Perczykthrough his official Twitter account.

In the city of Buenos Aires, some 400 thousand students of the initial and primary levels restarted classes this Monday with full attendance and the elimination of the protocols applied last year to avoid contagion of coronavirus, except for the use of a mask, which will be mandatory for fourth grade students and above, while high school students will start on March 2.

The head of the Buenos Aires Government, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, led the formal act of the start of the school year at school 21 in the Nueva Pompeya neighborhood, where he stressed that “education must be the priority for all because it is the future of our children and the way to equalize opportunities for all”.

Rodríguez Larreta highlighted that the school calendar in the district will have 192 days of classes because “we must recover these two difficult years” due to the pandemic, he stressed the importance of full attendance, “of being all together, interacting, playing with friends because that is irreplaceable”, and confirmed that this year the extended day will be mandatory in all Buenos Aires schools for sixth and seventh grade students.

The teachers affiliated with the Ademys union fulfilled a stoppage of activities in the Buenos Aires schools when considering that “the conditions are not met” for the beginning of classes.

Classes in Mendoza

in Mendoza, 443,701 students of all levels returned to classrooms this Mondayas reported by the Mendoza Government at the beginning of December of last year.

Mendoza School Calendar 2022 tends to meet 190 school daysaccording to the agreements reached in the Federal Council of Education and within the framework of the law that obliges the jurisdictions to guarantee 180 days of classes.

The General Directorate of Schools of Mendoza indicated that “A ‘careful and safe’ classroom is a classroom where all possible protection measures are combined. Prevention measures reduce the risk, but do not completely eliminate it. Having a properly vaccinated school population, with proper use of a chinstrap, proper classroom ventilation, and correct hygiene of the hands and the school environment, are the pillars to minimize the risk of infection by Covid 19 and facilitate careful attendance “.

This week, in radio statements, the head of the General Directorate of Schools (DGE), Jose Thomas, assured that “there are many children who are happy to return to a school that will be similar to the one we remember, -after two cycles marked by the pandemic-, but a school in which the students really learn, with more freedom and with pedagogical continuity “.

Since the beginning of February, teachers have shared working days where it was agreed to pspecial focus “on the hierarchy of literacy, framed as the possibility of offering opportunities to develop powerful personal stories and successful real trajectories”was reported from the DGE.

Thomas valued the importance of continuing with the vaccination and assured that, “given that we cross the database of the vaccines given to the boys with the GEM System (Mendoza Educational Management) the doses will be reinforced, with the authorization of the parents, in the places where it is more difficult to obtain; and ventilation and hand hygiene cleaning will be ensured permanently”.

The official assured that Mendoza “has been very satisfied with the established national protocol.”

In dialogue with Télam, the director of the Educational Inclusion and Equity Program, Ana Martearena, He referred to the students who interrupted their schooling during the pandemic, and in this sense he assured that “Around 25,000 students were reached last year by different lines of action aimed at these kids who interrupted their educational path in some way”.

“We started 2021 with some 30,000 weakened trajectories that needed strong pedagogical support. Throughout the year we were able to reach 25,000 students with different lines of action and we ended the year with a large number of kids who continued to request support and with great results, so we will continue this 2022 in the same direction,” explained the official.
