According to Maduro, the CIA and the DEA intended to use the elections to generate violence

President Nicolás Maduro said on September 11 that the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) of the United States have designed a plan to make the presidential elections on July 28 a multidimensional operation against the country.

According to the president, his administration has evidence of the plan described above. He emphasized that his government is facing international aggression and a fascist outbreak that, he added, seeks to affect the population.

The president pointed out the US executive for failing to comply with negotiation agreements with Venezuela. He warned that the time will come when all the facts of the pact processes can be disclosed. He asserted that he never trusted a negotiation with the US administration because “they are liars and evil.”

He referred to the signing of the Qatar Agreement. In this regard, he indicated that his government complied with all phases of the document. Meanwhile, he said, Joe Biden did not lift the economic sanctions.

Maduro pointed out that social media in the country is “playing a decisive role” in “infecting” important sectors of the Venezuelan population with “fascism and hatred.” In light of this, he called for promoting ideas of change and transformations detailed in the government plan for the 2025-2031 term.

The Venezuelan president pointed out that the opposition seeks, through social media, to “infect” important sectors of the population with fascism and hatred. In this regard, he asked his cabinet to promote ideas for change for the 2025-2031 term.

“The strategy has been to defeat our people with lies, manipulation to confuse the people. How many times have they tried it? In 2019 it was with the dirty rat Juan Guaidó. (…) If we were to make an objective assessment of who won from 2019 to 2023 over the parallel power, the economic war, American imperialism, who won? The brave people of Venezuela,” he said.

He added that “the extreme right, with the powerful support of all social networks, in an open, vulgar and biased manner, managed to polarize and channel the opposition vote, which in Venezuela, objectively, has always had a large share. They managed to coordinate a campaign with an extremist approach, headed by María ‘Sayona’ Machado.”

On the other hand, he acknowledged that it is a “mistake” to generalize and claim that citizens who voted for Edmundo González Urrutia, the candidate of the Unitary Platform, are fascists. “They have the right to seek whatever they want through the law.”

Maduro said that “fascism will never come to political power in Venezuela.” He also reiterated that the national economy has been “robustly” supported. He insisted that with him in charge “Venezuela will continue its process of building its own productive model, with economic growth, low inflation and the recovery of social rights.”
