Junín: Everything is getting ready for the Bicentennial edition of the Los Andes International Marathon

Through a press conference, the Municipality of Huancayo announced the progress of the most important sporting event in the region, the XXXVIII International Marathon of the Andes 2024 – Bicentennial Edition, in which they announced the participation of foreign athletes, prizes and news in the technical aspect of the event.

The Andes International Marathon has 84 thousand dollars in prizes, of which 15 thousand will be given to the first places in the elite category, women and men. Registration will be open until November 18, participants will be given a kit consisting of an electronic chip that will measure time, a sports bag, a participation number, a hydrating drink and a polo shirt.

Municipal manager Christian Velita announced that so far foreign athletes from Bolivia, Ecuador, Mexico, Kenya and Ethiopia have confirmed their participation.

Anti-doping testing and implementation of electronic chips

The technical coordinator of the event, Inés Melchor, announced that this year the time measurement will be done with an electronic chip, which will be given to each competitor in their kit. On the other hand, the athlete from Huancayo, Cristhian Pacheco, asked the organizers to carry out anti-doping tests on foreign athletes and those in first place.

In this regard, Inés Melchor Huiza mentioned that foreign athletes participating in the sporting event must not have a positive anti-doping record.
