Former President Alberto Fujimori Inomoto passed away on Wednesday, September 11, at the age of 86, as confirmed tonight by his own daughter, Keiko Fujimori, after a long battle with cancer.

This morning and afternoon, Fujimorist figures arrived at the house where he spent his last days in San Borja, reporting that the former president’s health was delicate.

Following his death, various figures in politics and Fujimorism expressed their sorrow after the news of the former president’s death was confirmed.

“After a long battle with cancer, our father, Alberto Fujimori, has just passed away to meet the Lord. We ask those who loved him to accompany us with a prayer for the eternal rest of his soul,” wrote Keiko Fujimori, the former president’s daughter, who was in charge of confirming the news.

Patricia Juárez, current congresswoman for Fuerza Popular, also spoke out after the death of the former president.

“Thank you President Fujimori for your wise advice as a statesman and for insisting that Peru is a viable country; that we must work for Peruvians in every corner of our country,” he wrote on his social media.

Fuerza Popular spokesman Arturo Alegría also expressed his condolences following the news of Alberto Fujimori’s death.

“President Alberto Fujimori will go down in history, as in each of his works, as the best president of Peru,” he said.
