Childhood vaccination in Rio de Janeiro should be resumed on Friday

Vaccination of children aged five to 11 years against covid-19 will resume today (21) in the city of Rio. The Municipal Health Department reported that it received a new batch of childhood immunizations from Pfizer.Covid-19: vaccination of children resumes in Rio

According to data from the department, 60% of children aged five to 11 years, that is, about 338,300 of a population of 560,200, were immunized with the first dose of the vaccine.

The municipality also maintains the vaccination of people aged 12 or over with the first and second doses (according to the calendar) and the booster dose for those aged 18 or over. Adults with immunosuppression can also take the second booster (DR) dose if they received the first one four months ago or more.

According to the Health Department, 51% of the adult population in Rio de Janeiro have already received the booster dose. Of the total population (all age groups), 82.9% received two doses of Coronavac, AstraZeneca or Pfizer vaccines, or a single dose of Janssen immunizer.
